The Moment of Liftoff

5… 4… 3… 2… 1… And the live virtual launch erupts with heart, clapping, and celebratory emojis. It's remarkable to think that just eight months ago, during Five Jars' sponsorship of DrupalCon Portland, the idea of Drupal CMS—then known as Drupal Starshot—was first announced. The idea was a paradigm shift - trying to reinvigorate the market so Drupal is the first thought and the first pick for businesses looking to build their online presence. Drupal CMS was pitched as a means for a lower threshold of entry; allowing non-technical persons to build their website with out-of-the-box solutions.

But, Drupal CMS has grown quite a bit since its announcement last year in March. Drupal CMS offers search engine optimization tools, AI-powered website development, analytics, media management, and more. These features help to support the platform as a user-friendly solution built on Drupal 11 Core, targeted towards the ambitious marketers, content creators, and site builders without deep Drupal technical knowledge.

Vision and Features

Drupal CMS uses pre-configured packages, or ‘Recipes’, to simplify and accelerate site building. These recipes can be mix-and-match toward the website needs, and are included in the current launch: about 30 of them, with room to grow. The platform also boasts AI-powered functionality with AI agents that can automate content creation and taxonomy, allowing the site builder to focus on more high-level strategy. Using AI in this way is designed to move through the site building process quicker, with more flexibility, and without losing design quality, or neglecting privacy and accessibility compliance.

The launch was celebrated by more than 60 launch parties across the globe from Poland to The Himalayas. A launch so exciting that Drupal Founder, ​​Dries Buytaert, dropped his glasses.
