Open Y Schedules Experience

The Problem

ActiveNet is one of the more popular CRM and e-commerce systems used to run YMCA class scheduling. Unfortunately, due to programmatic limitations, early integration between ActiveNet and Open Y was not in real-time. As a result, the YMCA of Greater Brandywine came to us looking for improvements for schedule loading times and accuracy. At the same time, we realized that we had a limited time window due to the impending end of life for PHP 5.6 on Acquia hosting.

The Solution

Open Y 1.13 introduced the new Program Event Framework, a universal architecture for YMCA event management. The Five Jars team created a new ActiveNet v2 integration that meshes seamlessly with this framework allowing for the instant display of ActiveNet updates through Open Y.

The Result

Building on the Program Event Framework allowed us to deliver on-time and on-budget. The new ActiveNet integration was released on production for beta-testing, and YMCA of Greater Brandywine and YMCA of Greater Seattle became the first YMCAs to implement CRM integration through the new Open Y Program Event Framework.
